Running ads on Instagram is a good idea for many businesses, but up until the most recent update, it could be a challenge. Instagram has added many different options for the image sizes including aspect ratio, square, landscape, and full screen. Brands would need to create a version of each of their ads to fit each of these size options if they wanted them to display properly. Those that didn’t would find that their ads could look distorted, which gives consumers a bad impression.
A new announcement from Instagram confirmed that they have updated their system so that anytime an advertiser uploads a new ad that is either square or landscape, the system will automatically transform it so that it will fit their full-screen inventory.
The update will help advertisers with any single image, or any video that is 15 seconds or fewer. If an image or video can’t fill the screen, the text associated with it will automatically be added below to give it a nice clean look.
This is just one less task that any advertiser will need to handle on their own when working with Instagram. It will also help ensure ads always look their best, which is critical for brand recognition.
