Mobile Push Notification Marketing Service Enters Beta

If you’re looking to expand your mobile marketing, you may have looked into using push notifications to stay in touch with your customers.  Push notification marketing is a powerful addition to most types of email marketing campaigns.  For many industries, the push notifications can actually be significantly more effective, because people tend to have their phones and other mobile devices with them at all times.  When you send out a push notification, people immediately see it, and may take action.

The problem with push notification marketing, however, is that it can be expensive to develop your own app (not to mention difficult to get people to download it).  Most push notification services are also limited in what they can provide to marketers.  A brand new push notification marketing service, however, has just entered beta launch, and is available for marketers to try.  The new service, known as roost, is a digital marketing platform which allows marketers to use mobile websites combined with push notifications to engage their visitors.

The platform is designed and focused on independent publishers and e-commerce marketers, bringing push notifications to everyone.  Included in the program is detailed analytics, which can be used to help improve and manage your campaigns.

The Roost platform is a significant update to the Alert Rocket program, which it is replacing.  The Alert Rocket program was developed by Notice Software, the parent company of Roost.  Burton Miller, CEO of Notice Software, says, “We are excited to provide the engagement power of push notifications to the businesses whose base is better suited for a robust mobile web presence than a standalone app.”

The fact that marketers can use this service to harness push notifications without requiring even a simple mobile app will undoubtedly make it very attractive to many marketers.  The system is currently available in 17 languages and 69 countries, giving this program the reach marketers desire.

The pricing of this program is also quite attractive, with a base option that is free, and several premium choices which add in additional features, and the ability to use the service on multiple sites or services.

Of course, since the service is only just entering beta launch, there is no real world data about its effectiveness.  I’ll be watching it closely to see what types of things people say about Roost over the coming weeks and months now that it is available to use.

What do you think about push notification marketing?  Is it already a part of your marketing strategy?  If not, do you think you’ll be using it in the future?  Please, comment below.
